Meet Ryan Lettau, Owner of Home Team Energy
Ryan established Home Team Energy in 2019 after a decade of experience in the solar energy industry. After graduating from Milwaukee School of Engineering in 2008 with a degree in Architectural Engineering, Ryan first worked for a roof consulting company where he incorporated solar into the existing business model.
After that, he moved on to a solar development company in 2010 and saw how rapid expansion led to a collapse in attention. Larger teams with more jobs over a larger region meant less time per client.
So in 2019, with a garage full of solar panels, Ryan started a family business called Home Team Energy. His wife Shelly worked with permitting and logistics, and his young sons help with clean-up and washing the trucks. Together, they began a company designed to maximize support and service for their clients.
After seeing how businesses can focus more on profits over people, Ryan—and now the team too—is on a mission to show that hard work, integrity, and treating people with dignity and respect should be the real focus of a successful business.
In 2022, the Lettau Family added a Tesla Model Y to their fleet, which is powered by their roof mounted solar array!

Ryan's quote was a better value and faster time to install. That was an easy decision. Then they showed why they earn nothing but 5 star reviews. Leading up the install, we literally had to do nothing. They took care of all planning, paperwork, and coordination. When it came to the actual install, it was obvious that the crew knew what they were doing. They communicated exactly what to expect throughout the process, and they literally left our house cleaner than they found it. To me, that speaks volumes about their work ethic and attention to detail. Can’t recommend Home Team enough. They were fantastic throughout the entire experience.

We met with Ryan (and a couple other companies, just to be sure) and he was informative, took the time to explain everything clearly, and answered our many questions with patience. We appreciated his honesty as well; we weren't sure we needed battery storage and Ryan assessed we did not- which would have nearly doubled the cost of the project. A less honest company would have tried to convince us we did need them for the bigger project profit. Ryan also had prepared a detailed breakdown (and recorded a video walkthrough!) of our system, what we can expect, and options of a lower cost system or higher cost, with pros and cons listed for each. His install team was prompt, polite, and hardworking, and kept us informed of progress daily.
